It’s National Fire Prevention Week and this year’s campaign is, “Don’t Wait – Check the Date and Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years.”
In an effort to educate the public about basic but essential elements of smoke alarm safety, the National Fire Prevention Association reminds residents that batteries in smoke alarms should be replaced every year and that there should be at least one working smoke alarm on every floor in homes.
To find out how old a smoke alarm is, look at the date of manufacture on the back of the alarm; the alarm should be replaced 10 years from that date.
