Pennsylvania residents may soon be able to get REAL ID.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, Pennsylvania residents will need a REAL ID-compliant license to board a federally regulated commercial aircraft, enter federal facilities that require identification and nuclear power plants, beginning Oct. 1, 2020.
Congress passed the REAL ID Act in 2005 after recommendation from the 9/11 Commission.
The DHS gave the state an extension through Aug. 1, 2019, to comply with the law.
