Holman asked to investigate Constable...

Schuylkill County District Attorney Christine Holman along with other county officials have been asked to investigate whether or not one of the local state constables committed a crime.

Pennsylvania State Constable John Sarge alleges that Constable Richard Krebs committed perjury when he took the oath of office on Dec. 31, 2015, after moving from Aubun to Wayne Township.

According to state law, constables must reside in the area in which they are elected or appointed. Sarge has been the constable for West Penn Township for more than 22 years, while Krebs was appointed as Auburn’s constable in 2009 to fill an unexpired term. Krebs lived and voted in Auburn at that time. However, ten days after winning the May 19 primary race he purchased a home in Wayne Township and according to Sarge, was no longer eligible to become the Auburn constable but his name remained on the ballot and he won the Nov. 3 general election.

Holman said she will turn the matter over to the Schuylkill County Constable Review Board for an initial assessment of the charges.
