Six homes were damaged and demolition will begin soon on two of them after fire struck on Beech Street, in Mt. Carmel, Northumberland County, on Tuesday morning.
Firefighters were first dispatched at 8:20 a.m. to the rear of a double home at 240-242 Beech St., where the fire is believed to have started.
A single home next door at 238 Beech St., and row homes on the other side at 244-246 and 248 Beech Street were also damaged in the blaze.
The only home at which no one was currently living was 244 Beech St., which was condemned about two years ago after a meth lab was shut down there.
There was some discussion at the scene about a propane heater, but authorities at this time say they don't know a cause.
No injuries were reported from the three-alarm blaze for which a contractor had already been secured for the work and, as of 11:30, those on scene were awaiting arrival of a crane to assist in the demolition.
