No injuries were reported after a car crashed through a sign near the borough line for Mahanoy City.
According to Skook News, Mahanoy Township Police said the crash occurred around 10:30am, Wednesday morning, when a vehicle heading East on Route 54 into Mahanoy City, veered off the north side of the highway and crash through the "Welcome to Mahanoy City" sign.
The driver was identified as John Blaschock. He was not injured in the crash but was taken into custody on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving with a suspended license and other violations. He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant in another county.
