Schuylkill County residents donated 29,270 pounds of food during the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive earlier this month.
According to the Republican Herald, post offices in Pottsville, Schuylkill Haven, Cressona, Port Carbon, New Philadelphia, Orwigsburg, Saint Clair, Frackville, Shenandoah and New Ringgold participated.
The event by the National Association of Letter Carriers is in conjunction with organizations such as the U.S. Postal Service and the National Rural Letter Carriers Association.
All donations stayed in the county and were distributed to The Salvation Army, Schuylkill Community Action, United Presbyterian Church, in Pottsville and St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, in Minersville.
