A free picnic to kick off the 2016 Schuylkill United Way campaign will be held Friday at Barefield Park in Pottsville.
The picnic features partner agencies of Schuylkill United Way that host various activities for children.
Michelle Halabura, director of community relations at Schuylkill United Way, said J. Bertolet Volkswagen is sponsoring the bounce house this year and food will be donated from various companies that will serve 500 people each.
The picnic is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday. It took the place of their annual kickoff breakfast last year, but both will be held this year.
The official breakfast kickoff for the 2016 campaign will be held Sept. 11 at 8 a.m. at Penn State Schuylkill.
