The Tamaqua Salvation Army is giving away over 250 clear student backpacks to area students.
Tamaqua Salvation Army Major Sharon Whispell said there are no restrictions on income, noting that the only items required to receive a backpack are a student identification and birth certificate for each student.
The giveaway is first come, first serve. Anyone interested can stop by the Tamaqua Salvation Army, located at 105 West Broad Street, Monday thru Friday between 10 AM and 3 PM.
In addition to the backpacks, students will also receive a limited number of school supplies, courtesy of the 13th Annual Schuylkill United Way Stuff The Bus program.
