State Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane went on the offensive at a press conference Wednesday, blasting an investigation of her and characterizing the resulting charges as part of an effort to prevent the release of pornographic emails that would embarrass high-ranking officials.
The Republican Herald reports that Kane said she wants to release the emails, which she claims contain pornography, racially insensitive information and religious bigotry, but she is prevented from doing so because of grand jury secrecy rules.
Other than restating her position that she broke no laws, she did not address the specific accusations against her — that she leaked secret grand jury information to a Philadelphia newspaper in order to embarrass a former state prosecutor she thought had made her look bad.
Kane’s preliminary hearing is set for August 24th.
