The Schuylkill County Commissioners issued a proclamation Wednesday designating October as Bully Prevention Month.
In order to raise awareness, students in the county districts will be wearing blue on Monday.
According to the proclamation one out of every five students in Schuylkill County reported experiencing bullying in the last 12 months.
The Safe Schools’ Bullying Prevention Coalition, which was formed in 2013 through a partnership with the Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29 and the county Safe Schools program, has different activities planned for October to raise awareness about bullying, starting with Blue Shirt Day on Monday.
The national Stomp Out Bullying campaign created Blue Shirt Day for the first Monday of October each year to raise awareness about bullying.
