Waves right to hearing...

by News Department on 07/09/15

A Zion Grove man charged with trying to kill two state police troopers with his vehicle on May 28 waived his right to a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

According to the Republican Herald, 30 year old Brad A. Moyer also waived his right to a hearing on separate charges stemming from an assault on his parents a short time before that.

Trooper Michael Marinchak, the arresting officer, charged Moyer with using his car to ram a state police cruiser occupied by troopers Brian O’Connor and Matthew Barrett about 11:45 p.m. in the area of 712 Ringtown Road.

District Attorney Christine Holman said the charge of assault on law enforcement required a firearm be discharged but no firearm was used by Moyer that day.

Marinchak said that during the pursuit, Moyer reached speeds in excess of 90 mph and that marijuana, Oxycodone and Diazepam were found in his system.

Moyer has been in Schuylkill County Prison since his arrest shortly after the incident.
