The state Department of Environmental Protection Secretary, Patrick McDonnell announced Wednesday, that the Kernsville and Landingville dams soon will be removed.
According to the Republican Herald, McDonnell did not giving a timetable for either dam’s removal, but said the department intends for each to be taken down as soon and as safely as possible.
McDonnell said Kernsville is a priority because there have been several drownings in the Schuylkill River at the nearby Peace Rock. T
he Landingville Dam is located in South Manheim Township between Landingville and Lake Wynonah.
McDonnell visited Carbon and Schuylkill counties on Wednesday as part of a three-day tour of DEP’s Northeast region.
